Whippets heading to the ship
The Ellington Whippets would continue to make history by defeating Skyline 11-6 in the Class 2 semifinal on Thursday. That win would put them one win away from the elusive state championship.
Cameron Brewer would have a big day at the plate and on the mound. Brewer drove in 5 runs while pitching his team to victory, throwing 7 innings and striking out 13.
The Whippets got on the board in the top of the 2nd when Will Copeland’s sac fly scored Dalton Buckner.
They would add 4 more runs in the 4th when Kaleb Richards grounded to second scoring Carson McNail. Then, Brewer homered to right scoring 3 runs.
The Whippets added 6 runs in the 5th on RBI’s by Copeland, Richards, Brewer, and Garret Morris pushing the lead to 11-1.
The Tigers would score 2 runs in the 5th and add 3 more in the 7th.
