Neelyville Lady Tigers win 12th consecutive Ozark Foothills Conference Title!
The #1 Neelyville Lady Tigers (18-4) took on the #2 Doniphan Donnettes (17-7) in the Girls OFC Tourney Championship Friday night at the Libla Sports Complex. The Lady Tigers would win an impressive 12th straight OFC Tourney Championship in dominating fashion.
The match up was a wire to wire battle, but the Lady Tigers would never lose their lead and took a 63-47 victory over the Donnettes.
The Tigers would jump out quickly, building a 16-9 1st quarter lead. But the Donnettes would claw their way back in the 2nd quarter, behind the hot shooting of senior Ady Jones’ 17 first-half points. The Tigers would hold a slight lead 28-26 at the half. In the 2nd half, the Lady Tigers would show why they have dominated the conference for years. Their pressure defense would lead to quick buckets late in the 4th and would hold on for the 63-47 victory. This game was much closer than the final score shows, with both teams leaving everything on the floor. The Lady Tigers were led by junior Makenzi Davis with 21 points. Other Tigers scoring; Lexi Laui 13pts, Payton Reinbott 12pts, Gwyn Scott 9pts, and Bailey McGruder 8pts. The Donnettes were led by seniors Ady Jones with 22 points and Emily Ederer with 10 points.
