Class 1 District 5, in Ellington, MO, hosted six Big 3 Athletics schools competing for one district title. Those in the district included: (1) Lesterville Bearcats, (2) Winona Wildcats, (3) Eminence Redwings, (4) South Iron Panthers, (5) Viburnum Bluejays, (6) Bunker Eagles, (7) Ellington Whippets. 

On Monday, October 28th, the first and semi-final round games were played. Three of the five games of the night turned into three set battles. In the first round, (2) Winona defeated (7) Ellington, (3) Eminence defeated (6) Bunker, and (4) South Iron defeated (5) Viburnum.This led into the semi-final round where the (2) Winona Wildcats were able to pull off the win over the (3) Eminence Redwings after fighting for three entire sets. In the last game of the night, the (1) Lesterville Bearcats won over the (4) South Iron Panthers during their semi-final matchup.

Championship night was held Tuesday, October 29th. The Championship game featured the (1) Lesterville Bearcats against the (2) Winona Wildcats for the second year in a row. The Bearcats came ready to play from the opening serve, in attempt to defend their last season's district title. Two sets later, they had done just that. With a final score of 25-13 and 25-19 the Lesterville Bearcats clinched their fourth district championship in a row under the guidance of head coach Betsy Middleton and assistant coach April Freeman, a powerful duo. 

The Bearcats were led by Junior Mallory Polk, Senior Allie Harrison, and Freshman Reese Gray, all of whom would receive First Team All-District honors. Below is a complete list of the Class 1 District 5 All-District Team.

Lesterville will face District 8 Winner, Miller, at Summersville, MO @ 4:30 on Saturday, November 2nd.
