Greenville Lady Bears Capture First Win of the Season!
The Greenville Lady Bears were hosts to the Senath Lady Lions tonight in Greenville, MO. The Lady Bears, who were looking for their first win of the season, came into the contest 0-9 and were taking on the Lady Lions who were 5-6, looking to go .500 for the season. Greenville fell behind in the first quarter as Senath was hot from the three-point line. The score was 23-11 after one. The second quarter belonged to Greenville as they started using their inside game with Freshman, Macky Marler. At the half, the Lady Bears had flipped the game to a 27-26 lead.
As the second half began, the game was back and forth, but the Lady Bears were able to stretch their lead to 6 and finish the third quarter at 37-30. As the fourth quarter began, the drama started to build. Could the Lady Bears grab their first win of the season? The fans, the coaches, and the girls started to believe and they fed off of the energy in the gym. Greenville went on to dominate the fourth and seal the deal. The final score was 53-39 Lady Bears.
The Lady Bears were led in scoring by Freshman, Macky Marler with an impressive 26 points and 19 rebounds. Sophomore, Mattie Allen contributed 11 points of her own. Freshman, Natalie Miller added 8 points.
