Big Springs Conference Tournament Day 1
In the opening round of the Big Springs Conference Tournament held in Eminence there were three games played. The opening round game between the (1) Eminence Redwings and the (8) Couch Indians was postponed for tomorrow, January 23rd due to inclement weather. In the first game of the night, the (3) Ellington Whippets took on the (6) Bunker Eagles. This game went as expected and Ellington won the game with a final score of 66-41. The Whippets were led in scoring by So. Kyle Conkright who scored 20 pts., So. Brycen King with 19 pts., and Sr. Will Copeland with 14 pts. The Eagles were led in scoring by Jr. Mason Davis with 13 pts. and Sr. Josh Barton with 10 pts.
The second game displayed the (2) Van Buren Bulldogs vs. the (7) Summersville Wildcats. After the first quarter, the Bulldogs held a lead of 15 points. The game ended in the same fashion with a final score of 73-24. Van Buren was led in scoring by Jr. Trey Nicholson who had 20 pts. Nicholson was followed by So. Haden Barnes with 19 pts. and Jr. Connor Jackson with 13 pts. Summersville was led in scoring by Sr. Crockett Parham who had 8 points.
In the last game of the night the (4) Alton Comets took on the (5) Winona Wildcats. This game showed signs of being competitive with a first quarter score of 17-8 in Alton's favor. As the game progressed, Alton started to show some dominance and pulled away for a 68-33 victory and earned a place in the semi-finals. The Comets were led in scoring by Jr. Drew Clary with 27 pts. Clary was followed by Jr. Eli King and So. Cainan Heck with 11 pts. each. The Wildcats were led in scoring by Fr. McCade Dixon with 10 pts. The Comets will take on the winner of the Eminence-Couch game in the semi-final round.
The girls take center court tomorrow with their opening round games.
